Today's Topic - Writing in Frame

Activity - Write up a script, scene description, plot, etc. with the subject thereof as a writer sort of inception tale.
Ex.) you are writing a story of someone reading a story about someone playing a game of someone drawing a picture of... so on and so forth. Any genre, and any concept. Perhaps play on Breaking the fourth wall many times over?

Today's Topic - Accent Styling

Rules - post your responses in the appropriate sub-board for Friday Activities, This may be in the form of any images, description, story, video, audio, or writing

Activity - Characters come from all walks of life, all different types of background. Anywhere around the world, you can find people who have their own story. Your goal is to create one of the aforementioned mediums portraying a character, location, or item that communicates an unusual walk of life from somewhere else around the world, maybe even in another time period. Add in aspects from varying cultures, varied pasts, and maybe try to push the edge of your comfort zone.

Today's Topic - Cover Fire

Rules - Post goes in Saturday sub-board, may be in any medium form

Activity - Characters in movies, television, games, etc, where special effects are used, often are given an aura of some sort of force surrounding them. Be it flames, bulletstorms, Lightning, Light itself, you get the picture. This activity's goal is to create an aura for a character that you haven't seen before. Maybe you want to surround your character with paper airplanes, or sound waves. get creative, and be graceful.

Today's Topic - Go with the flow

Rules - Appropriate sub-board for Sunday posts. May be video - most productive, written description, or images. Sunday activities will cycle through a different element of the same basic concepts each week, and a different concept each month.

Activity - Many Games and movies implement their own fighting styles. From various types of Kung Fu to jumping on something's head to remove it from existence. The only way for something so intricate as combat to look good is to feel the flow of it in the initial scheming. Your job: Scheme up a fighting style that utilizes all of the joints on each limb and base the flow of the moves off of the movement of an animal.

Today's Topic - Alternate Action Endings

Rules - Post in the appropriate Monday Sub-board. This activity is purely plot-based, so writing it out is preferred.

Activity - Take your favorite action movie and rewrite the ending to fit something of your own style. You can do this in dialogue-script style or in descriptive full-writing style.




Ex. - Raiders of the Lost Ark

Marion and Indy nearly die from the ark's power -

Marion: INDY!!!!! WHAT'S GOING ON?!?!?!?!?
Indy: Did you look at it?!?!?
Marion: No! (Starts to fade) Indy!!!!!!!
Indy: MARION!!!!(also fades)

Scene change. Off-white background, Spiritual atmosphere, God appears. His voice is calm, soothing, and booming at the same time.

God: Are you the two who still Believe?
Indy: (Under breath) Oh my god...
God:(apparently overhearing) Yes, that is me. Never forget that. Do this and you will experience many spiritual adventures, and believe in me and you shall inherit my kingdom.
Marion: What do you mean?

God turns to her and changes his story.

God: You will proceed to live a full and eventually happy life, with your true love.
Marion: (thinking) Is that Indy
God: I will not say.
God: now both leave. Never forget what you witnessed here, and spread the word.

Both awaken on the ground next to the post they were tied to. the rest of the end proceeds as usual.

Today's Topic - Plot Fill

Rules - This works like a mad lib, however, please try not to be silly about it. Response goes in the appropriate Sub-Board for Tuesdays.

Activity - On Tuesdays you will have a Fully-created character, item, or location and must fit it together using your own design and means. i.e. if given a character who is a talking dog, so on and so forth, provide the dog with a companion, a mission, a conflict, a plot, etc. Actions, Objects and other things will be provided in an intro paragraph as blanks to fill in. Along the way, you may add in different types of mediums of your own to add style and change the story set up.

Friedrich the ex-Nazi was a ______ man who cared little for anything that didn't concern him. The only person aside from himself whom he concerned himself with was his ______, _________. But when she was taken from him, he decided that no one was allowed to touch his stuff. He must now retrieve her from _______, one small mission at a time. Our story opens on his beginning of his missions, where we find him doing _____.

Rules - Create a new thread in the Thursdays Sub-Board, And this activity is completely Organization-based

Activity - Create a screenplay and/or Character Display of a scene of a horror movie that makes fun of horror movies by being ridiculous. Should include character locations, Set description, imagery, some dialogue, and facial expressions, as well as movement description. May be in the form of Written Page or Storyboard images.

Activity - Come up with a good-looking and functional design for a piece of clothing or gear that a character could wear either in combat or in a sport.

Activity - Create an unnatural location that would be found either on another planet, another plane of existence, a spiritual world, etc. that incorporates elements of your favorite non-human character-style. must include flora, fauna, and nonliving materials as well.

Activity - Direct the entrances of at least five characters in a single scene. Make each unique and dramatic. very basic scene description, And reasons for character's appearance, otherwise, no storyline needed.

Today's Topic - Split Activity - Striking Images

Rules - Today's activity is a split job, where some groups of Surface MEDIA do one part of it, others do the other. sometimes these will be group projects, but not today. Posting goes under a new thread in the appropriate Thursdays sub-board.

Activity - Art/Cartoon/FX/Games/Tech Crew - Draw an image of a ball, sword, or other object that projects the user's innermost desires into reality. Use various shading techniques, edge designs, and contour designs indicative of your choice of media, be it video-game style, movie style, or otherwise.
Marketing/Writing/Concept & Design/Acting/Music - Describe an image of the above criteria with any sort of words or other visuals not mentioned above. The difference is that your sword/ball/other absorbs adverse feelings instead. Use your most descriptive wording for this.
Anyone else - Choose, if you think you are not in any of the aforementioned groups, or if you are not yet an official member of the club, either of the two above options.

EVERYONE - Bonus option - Use any of a combination of the two parts of the activity.

Jimmie, Ricky, Bobby, and ________ were just about ready to close up shop. afterwards, they had plans to go to the park and chill a while. But ________ declined the invite last minute to attend to something else afterward. His job as a member of the Mafia was to ________ the new targets/victims and __________ their corpses after the deeds were done. The blackmail part was Vince's job, __________'s cousin, and so he got roped in as an attendant for some earlier crimes and eventually got himself a job with them. He already managed to out-rat the mafia rat who they'd been trying to _____________ since his first slip-up. __________ sighed. "Looks like ____________ duty again. I'm gonna have to _____________"

Today's Topic - JACK MACGUFFIN

Rules - The words above may be used together or independently as a central theme for a story, plot, or other media form. i.e. - Jack = to pump up a car from the ground, a MacGuffin is an item or plot device in a story or other work that all of the characters are trying to acquire. Therefore, the plot is that all of the characters in the image are reaching for a metal pin that would be part of a car jack. the style is 3 stooges slapstick. you get the picture. post goes in appropriate sub-board for Wednesdays.

Activity - create something using the words JACK and MACGUFFIN either independently or together to fuel the source for the medium. A MacGuffin is a plot device or item that has all of the characters fighting to acquire.

Today's Topic - tHE sWAP

Rules - You may make any sort of medium creation, provided it meets the requirements of the activity.

Activity - Pick a character from a movie, game, etc. and choose an aspect of their character development to alter. (examples would be skillset, knowledge of a situation going into it, a couple characters' powers, age, size, gender, etc.) Then determine how different the change would make the plot of their source material.
Display both in your response post.

OPTIONAL - Do the same, but instead pick two characters and swap only one aspect between the two. Must be the same source material, and influence the plot significantly.

Today's Topic - Stream of Consciousness

Rules - this is a writing assignment. Although, come to think of it, you can draw stream of consciousness too...and maybe record video of yourself for it...

Activity - Alright, if you don't know what this is by now, I plan on beating you senseless until you crawl back beneath the rock you've been living under...
Aanyways... come up with a situation in which a high-stress scene can be felt by someone or something involved. For all I care, you could be a tree, witnessing yourself being cut down, and think your last thoughts. Or you could be a rock that houses uncultured individuals underneath it. ^^^^. You can post this as any sort of idea post, and subsequently, think about what tangents in your mind got you to that idea. I challenge you to notate that and use it in the final project as well.
